Our Harbour in our hands

This group of people arranged a meeting with the harbour officials to discuss various methods of resolving the buildup of sand on our main slipway.

Authorities agreed to our views that the slipway had become a beach for sunbathers literally over the festive season, creating a multitude of safety horror stories.

It was agreed that this group could proceed to obtain tenders to clear the slipways of sand, as well as digging a trench out of the swimming area towards Nostra. to create a flow of water through the harbour.

This hopefully would also make the flow of water and sand inside the harbour more dynamic, and prevent the build up of sediment inside the harbour.

A couple of concrete lintels was also sponsored and manufactured by one of the members, and will be placed on the edge of the slipway in front of the wash bays and Fishmonger area.

The club was also informed that the funds needed to carry out these projects, would be re-imbursed by the local municipality as soon as the paperwork was complete.

We meanwhile hope that these efforts will help to make our harbour more accesible to Skiboaters especially over the next couple of months.
